PSV head coach Ronald Koeman has called 16-year-old youngster Género Zeefuik into his squad for Saturday night’s Eredivisie game against NAC Breda. The talented striker has been impressive at training and Koeman thinks he deserves his first call-up to the squad, the more so as Arouna Koné is ruled out of Saturday’s game.
“He is dauntless, physically strong, hard to dispossess and he is a clinical finisher”, said Koeman at the weekly media briefing. “We are looking to bolster our attacking options now that Koné faces some time on the sidelines. Zeefuik showed glimpses of his talent at training the past few days and is well-liked by his new team mates. I have no fear handing a debut to a youngster who will be seventeen next week. I also handed Ryan Babel his first senior start, when he was sixteen.” Zeefuik is obviously delighted with his first call-up to the squad. “It was great to train with the squad for three days. The pace is higher; yet I feel I can cope. This is a terrific opportunity for me to show my skills.” Zeefuik, who started his career at the Ajax Academy, made a move from FC Omniworld to PSV in the summer of 2006. He usually makes appearances for junior team or Young PSV.
