PSV will be without centre-back Alex, midfielder Ibrahim Afellay and striker Arouna Koné when they meet Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-final first leg at the Philips Stadium on Wednesday night. Ronal Koeman has included Finnish international midfielder Mika Väyrynen in his starting line-up, while Tardelli will partner Farfán in attack. Both Patrick Kluivert and Sun start on the bench, but Jan Kromkamp will start against his former club.
PSV will probably start with a 3-5-2 formation, keeping the midfield well occupied. Head coach Ronald Koeman may bring on Sun and Kluivert later during the game, but has given starting positions to Väyrynen in midfield and Diego Tardelli up front. As Ibrahim Afellay is ruled out of tonight’s game with a hamstring strain, PSV do not have the names of seven substitutes on the referee’s sheet, but only six. However, when PSV met Arsenal at home, only five players were on the bench.
