Ronald Koeman has called up 19-year-old Rens van Eijden and 18-year-old Olivier ter Horst to his 18-man-squad for Wednesday's UEFA Champions League quarter-final return leg with Liverpool. The squad will take off from Eindhoven Airport on Tuesday morning.
Rens van Eijden, born in Oss, started playing football with amateurs Margriet, but has been with PSV since 1999. The central defender makes appearances for Young PSV. Olivier ter Horst, born in Nijmegen, joined PSV three seasons ago, after he had had spells at Oranje Blauw, Quick 1888 and Vitesse. The left back plays in PSV’s highest junior team. The two youngsters, who took part with PSV’s highest junior team in an international tournament in Düsseldorf during the Easter weekend, were completely taken by surprise when they were invited to join the first-team squad. Ibrahim Afellay, Jan Kromkamp, Edison Mendez, Michael Reiziger and Alex all ruled out of Wednesday’s game because of injuries, while Alcides, John de Jong and Género Zeefuik are not eligible to play.
