PSV head coach Guus Hiddink used phrases as 'childlike simplicity', and 'naive defending'at the post-match press conference, when analysing the goals that PSV had conceded against Panathinaikos."Conceding as many as four goals is a rather extraordinary phenomenon for PSV. Conceding goals is part of the game, but I feel that my players did not communicate well. We were vulnerable and naive in defence. Its a shame, because I think we have never been outwitted and we really tried to put things straight. We made some silly mistakes and we have been taught a lesson. We now know once again that you have to be constantly sharp and alert when playing a game on the European stage and that you have to communicate well all the time."Hiddink realised that it might have been a different game if Van Bommel had converted the penalty and if the goal scored by Park had not been disallowed, but he was not willing to use that as an excuse. "I think we might very well have scored an equalizer, but we lacked the spirit and the incentive for a make or break game. We have to accept defeat and lick our wounds and then start the preparations for the crucial game on Sunday."When asked for his opinion on the final standing in group E Hiddink replied: "This is the position we deserve and I can live with this second place in our group. We have the capacity to face any opponent in the knock-out phase of the UEFA Champions league tournament."
