The PSV players <L CODE="C01">Dirk Marcellis</L>, <L CODE="C02">Rens van Eijden </L>and Donny Gorter will be called into action next week, when the Netherlands U19 compete in the UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualifying round. Wim van Zwam, coach of the Netherlands U19 team, had already called up Marcellis before, while Van Eijden and Gorter were on the standby team list.
There are seven four-team mini-tournaments which will each produce one qualifier for July's finals in Austria. Group 3 gets underway on 15 May with hosts England vying with 2006 semi-finalists Czech Republic, Russia and the Netherlands. Van Eijden fills in for FC Utrecht-defender Erik Pieters who was forced to withdraw from the squad after he had sustained an injury. Eelco Horsten was also on the standby team list, but did not receive a call-up. Dirk Marcellis and Rens van Eijden were handed debuts on the European stage recently, when PSV locked horns with Liverpool at Anfield in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final return leg. Netherlands U19 will first meet the Czech Republic in the qualifying round at the Burton Albion FC Stadium on Tuesday 15 May.
