PSV have extended the contract with <L CODE="C01">Género Zeefuik</L> by a further year, which will keep him with the Philips Stadium outfit until 2011. His previous contract was due to run until the summer of 2010. Zeefuik, who has been promoted to Ronald Koeman’s first-team squad this season, made no attempt to hide his delight at signing the new deal.
The 17-year-old striker joined PSV last season and head coach Ronald Koeman added him to the first-team squad in March. As Arouna Koné had sustained an injury, Zeefuik was called up to the squad for the first time for the league game against NAC Breda during which Koeman handed him his debut. He made five appearances for PSV last season. “I was a sixteen-year old junior player, when I was called up to the first-team squad for the first time, which was obviously a great experience. I needed some time to adapt, as I played with new players at a much higher level. It is my ambition to try and do so again this season.” Zeefuik relegated alleged stories about his poor disciplinary record to the realm of fiction. “I have read those stories and I have no idea who makes them up”, said Género Zeefuik. The ex-Ajax academy player spent one season with Omniworld before he made a move to Eindhoven.
