The PSV medical staff remain optimistic that Arouna Koné and Mika Väyrynen will be fit for the start of the new season and are pleased with the progress they are making. Summer signing Kenneth Perez may miss the start of the season after he has sustained a knee problem at training earlier this week.

PSV team doctor Van den Hoogenband, who is with the squad in Moscow, where PSV are participating in a pre-season tournament, said that Koné has left hospital after he had recovered from his bout of malaria and will report for training at De Herdgang training centre today. Väyrynen's calf injury seems to be less serious than originally feared.
Koné is recovering well. The PSV striker has been discharged from hospital and will work out his rehabilitation programme the next few days. The African will report for training at De Herdgang training centre today. He is not injured, but obviously lacks physical strength. The PSV team doctor is hopeful that Mika Väyrynen, who did not join the squad for the trip to Moscow, will soon return to full fitness. The Finnish midfielder suffers a strained calf muscle.
It is doubtful whether Kenneth Perez will be back in time to line up for the opening fixture of the campaign against Heracles Almelo. The Dane has sustained a knee injury and will rehabilitate in Eindhoven.
