PSV head coach Ronald Koeman and his FC Twente colleague Fred Rutten agreed at the post-match press conference that both teams had fought hard and found themselves well-matched. “We gave a good performance and entertained the crowd”, insisted the two coaches. “2-2 would have been fairer result, but, all in all, we are content”, added Koeman.

“I think footballwise, this was a good match”, said Koeman in de Arke Stadium press room. “Both teams fought hard and found themselves well-matched. The game could have gone either way. We both had our moments. At times we dominated, but I must admit that FC Twente controlled proceedings for long spells in the match as well. Lazovic and Bakkal should have done better when they were put clear on one occasion. FC Twente produced most goal threat in the closing stages. 2-2 would have been fairer result, but, all in all, we are content”, concluded Koeman.
FC Twente boss Fred Rutten fully agreed. “We might well have snatched victory, if luck had been on our side. The crowd were kept entertained throughout. It was great publicity for football. I felt that if they had broken the deadlock, we would never have cancelled out the deficit, but if we had opened the scoring, they would not have been able to score an equaliser. We rapidly develop into a team that is hard to beat”, said Rutten.
