Manchester United will have to do without their striker Ruud van Nistelrooy for four to six weeks. An MRI scan has revealed that a small injury has become a serious Achilles tendon injury. After the 5-2 win over Crystal Palace last Saturday Sir Alex Ferguson announced that Van Nistelrooy "will be on the sidelines for four to six weeks. But we do not want surgery. Hopefully therapy and then rehabilitation can do the trick." Van Nistelrooy, who has scored twelve goals so far this season, missed the last five games of his club. The former PSV striker obviously hopes very much to be available once again for the UEFA Champions League knock out ties against AC Milan next year. Manchester United will have to do without the services of Louis Saha, who has picked up a knee injury and Ole Gunnar Solskjær, who faces a long lay-off.
