Jason Culina has undergone exploratory keyhole surgery after enduring ongoing pain in his knee. Examination at hospital revealed that the Australian midfielder had sustained a tiny meniscus tear and the PSV medical staff has confirmed he will be out for some three weeks after successfully undergoing arthroscopy surgery.
'He had been suffering from a swollen knee for some time and we wanted to reveal the exact nature of his injury by conducting keyhole surgery. Jason will be sidelined for some three weeks', said Cees-Rein van den Hoogenband, Head Medical Staff. Culina will be ruled out for the domestic league match against VVV-Venlo on 20 October and the UEFA Champions League clash with Fenerbahçe SK three days later. PSV head coach Ronald Koeman, who regularly handed starts to Culina the past few weeks, regrets the in-form midfielder will be out of contention for three weeks.
