PSV have appointed Jan Wouters as caretaker coach to replace Ronald Koeman, who has left the club with immediate effect to take over at Valencia. Young PSV coach Anton Janssen is added to the senior coaching staff on a temporary basis. Koeman will say goodbye to the squad at De Herdgang training centre on Thursday morning.
General Manager Jan Reker extensively explained the move head coach Ronald Koeman had made along with his assistant Tonny Bruins Slot. The Spanish top club Valencia called PSV about Ronald Koeman on Monday night for the first time and the PSV board of directors consulted with Koeman on Tuesday morning. Jan Wouters has now been appointed as caretaker coach, after Koeman and Bruins Slot resigned from PSV.
Reker explained why PSV may need some time to appoint a successor. 'We can obviously not conjure up a new coach just like that, so we must have some patience. We intend to appoint a new coach as soon as possible', said Reker.
