PSV MEDIA - PSV General Manager Jan Reker has confirmed that Sef Vergoossen and his assistant Dwight Lodeweges will take charge at PSV in January as caretaker coaches for the remainder of the season. Jan Wouters will remain in charge as interim coach until January and resume his assistant coach's role when Vergoossen takes over.
Vergoossen and Lodeweges, who already worked together at Al Jazeera, join PSV from the Japanese club Grampus Eight. They will end the cup competition in Japan first before they move to PSV in January at the latest. 60-year-old Vergoossen is set to stay with PSV and guide talented youngsters after he stands down as caretaker coach. The current interim assistant coaches Anton Janssen and Luc Nilis will be involved in first-team proceedings, but will no longer be on the bench as from January. Huub Stevens will take full control in Eindhoven in the summer of 2008.
Vergoossen was coach at, among other teams, Roda JC and MVV and guided Racing Genk to the Belgian title. He worked together with Jan Reker at VVV-Venlo. Dwight Lodeweges, who was born in Canada, was coach at, among other clubs, Go Ahead Eagles, FC Zwolle and sc Heerenveen. Jan Wouters will be in charge as caretaker coach until January.
