Jan Wouters was content with the 4-1 victory against Excelsior, but the PSV caretaker coach did not dwell too long on the game. PSV took their chances well, were sloppy at times, and went back home after they had accomplished their mission. Ton Lokhoff thought his side had conceded too many chances and made some individual errors.

'I thought we started brightly and we put early pressure on Excelsior', said Jan Wouters at the post-match press conference. 'But we were also sloppy at times and when some of our attacking players lost possession, we were almost caught on the break a few times. In the second half we struck at appropriate moments and took our chances well. I am happy with the win', Wouters concluded.
Excelsior coach Ton Lokhoff thought his players had done well in attack, but conceded some goals from individual errors. 'PSV obviously have some top-class strikers, but we conceded a few goals far too easily. We will build on some of the positives of our performance of this game. PSV's goalkeeper Gomes deserves praise. He is a pure magic. Strikers must do really good job to beat him.'
