Fund raising for Tsunami quake victims (PSV.nl)

PSV Chairman Rob Westerhof announced on New Year's Day that PSV are examining in what way the club can make a contribution to raise money for the victims of the Asian disaster.PSV have many contacts in the areas hit by the Asian tsunami. Westerhof represented Philips in the area for many years; there is a large connection with Korea and PSV regularly travel to Asia to take part in tournaments or show initiatives in the field of media and marketing.PSV will most likely organize a benefit match during their training camp in the United Arabic Emirates in order to raise funds, said Westerhof. All the Dutch television broadcasting companies will present a programme on Thursday 6 January to raise funds for the victims. Scores of prominent Dutchmen have promised to cooperate. PSV manager Guus Hiddink will make an appearance in the programme of Paul de Leeuw, a well-known Dutch comedian and PSV Chairman Westerhof will dwell upon the disaster in his New Year’s speech on Monday.It was made known that Japan will donate half a billion dollars to the countries hit by the tsunami and to international charities. Prime Minister Koizumi announced this on Saturday, according to the Japanese press agency Kyodo.
