PSV will not extend the contract of 49-year-old Joop Hiele, who has been in charge of goalkeeping training at PSV the past nine years. The goalkeeping coach's current contract at PSV expires at the end of the season. Huub Stevens will take charge as head coach at PSV next season, and he is set to appoint a new goalkeeping coach.
Hiele joined PSV as goalkeeping coach in the summer of 1999 and has played an important role in the club's recent successes. He worked with several goalkeepers, with Ronald Waterreus and the Brazilian Heurelho da Silva Gomes as most conspicuous stoppers. He helped both of them become highly respected keepers, both at home and throughout Europe. As a member of the coaching staff Hiele co-operated with the head coaches Eric Gerets, Guus Hiddink, Ronald Koeman and Jan Wouters and he will remain in charge of the group of goalkeepers under new caretaker coach Sef Vergoossen until the end of the 2007/08 season. Hiele earned a good reputation as man between the posts during his spells at Feyenoord, where he made over 300 appearances, SVV, Dordrecht '90 and the Dutch national team. He currently works with the goalkeepers Gomes, Bas Roorda and young talented Brazilian custodian Cássio Ramos.
