New PSV head coach Sef Vergoossen guided his team to a 2-0 win over First Division side Fortuna Sittard in a friendly on Tuesday night. PSV, who prepare for Saturday's top of the table clash with Feyenoord, put in a lacklustre performance on a pitch that was in a bad condition. The Hungarian Balázs Dzsudzsák made his first start in PSV colours after he had been brought on as a substitute after the break.

In order to prepare PSV thoroughly for the second period of the season, Vergoossen had called up a 22-man squad and wanted to see as many players as possible play in the friendly match against Fortuna Sittard. Vergoossen made a host of half-time changes. Balázs Dzsudzsák made his debut for PSV and Mika Väyrynen as well as goalkeeper Bas Roorda made their first appearance since the pre-season campaign. Five first-team regulars, Salcido, Kromkamp, De Jong, Van der Leegte and Addo, who has been called away to play for Ghana in the Africa Cup of Nations, were absent, while Jonathan, Zeefuik and goalkeeper Cássio Ramos did not leave the bench. Lazovic played as striker up front, partnered by Farfán, with Bakkal and Afellay providing support from the flanks. Rajkovic played at left back, while Mike Zonneveld operated on the left of midfield in the first half.
After fifteen minutes' play, PSV won three corners in quick succession and they went ahead when Charly van den Ouweland unfortunately headed in an own goal from Bakkal's third corner. Five minutes later the visitors doubled their advantage, when Afellay rounded goalkeeper Christianen before slotting home; 0-2. Fortuna Sittard got one golden opportunity to reduce the deficit, but Gomes pulled off a terrific save when one-on-one with Jacobs.

Eight substitutes got a taste of action after the break. Koevermans played up front, with debutant Dzsudzsák and Méndez delivering crosses from the left and right wing respectively. The second half was a scrappy affair. PSV created hardly any clear cut chances, but did not concede anything either.
PSV will continue their training camp in Belgium tonight, and will return to Eindhoven on Thursday. They will train behind closed doors on Friday, ahead of Saturday's away match with Feyenoord, when Vergoossen takes charge at PSV for the first time at an official match.
