Eric Addo's Ghana are preparing for the 2008 African Cup of Nations in Dubai. The 26th edition of the football championship of Africa will be held between January 20 and February 10, 2008. On Tuesday, the PSV defender and the other players of the Ghana squad will fly to Accra, the capital of their native country, where they will play all their home matches.
'Things are just perfect here in Dubai. We can prepare in peace and quiet for the Africa Cup of nations. Ghana host the prestigious tournament and expectations in our country are simply sky-high', says Addo in the players' hotel in Dubai. 'Pandemonium reigns in Accra as there is massive interest from the press and the football fans. The circumstances here are wonderful: the pitches are in perfect condition and the weather is lovely' says Addo.
Ghana kick off the tournament against Guinea in the opening game at the Accra Sports Stadium on January 20th and will also meet Namibia and Morocco. Four groups of four countries vie for victory.
