Young PSV have reached Cup final for reserve teams as they earned a 5-2 victory against their AZ counterparts at De Herdgang training centre on Monday night. After 90 minutes, the score was 2-2, but the hosts coasted to a 5-2 win suring extra time.
While the rain came pouring down, Young PSV, who had included first team regulars Rajkovic and Aissati in their starting line up, started brightly. Only four minutes were on the clock when Jonathan opened the scoring and barely ten minutes later Zeefuik doubled the advantage. AZ handed starts to Waterman, Koenders, Donk, Matic, Jenner and Ari, who have all gained experience playing Eredivisie games, along with Medunjanin and El-Hamdaoui, who started on the bench. Nelson reduced the deficit for the visitors before the break. After the interval, AZ moved men forward in a bid to score an equaliser, while PSV created some opportunities to wrap up victory. Just when the home side thought they had the game sealed, Matic slotted home at the far post and extra time was needed to get a result. Jonathan was on target after 104 minutes and Voss and substitute Hikspoors made sure of a place in the Cup final for reserve teams, scheduled in Waalwijk on 28 April. PSV will meet either Young N.E.C or RKC Waalwijk who meet tonight in the other semi final. The winner of the Cup final for reserves teams will automatically book a place in the KNVB Cup.
