Blackburn Rovers have signed 31-year-old Johann Vogel after the midfielder impressed on a trial. After three seasons, Vogel will be reunited with former PSV defender André Ooijer. They were team mates at PSV for six seasons, from the 1999-2000 campaign to the 2004/05 season. Vogel made a move to the Italian club AC Milan in the summer of 2005, while Ooijer joined Blackburn Rovers from PSV one season later.
Johann Vogel joined Betis in August 2006, but was allowed to leave as a free agent in January 2008, following a legal dispute with the club. Vogel has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with Blackburn Rovers with the option of a further year.
André Ooijer's contract with Blackburn Rovers was due to expire at the end of this season, but the English Premier League club recently exercised their right to extend the original two-year contract for a further twelve months.
