PSV have agreed a three-year contract extension with improved terms with Rens van Eijden, born in Oss in the county of Brabant on 3 March 1988, keeping the 20-year-old central defender at the club until the summer of 2011. PSV head coach Sef Vergoossen added the talented youngster, who has come through the ranks with PSV, to the first-team squad in the winter break.
Rens van Eijden, who started his career at amateurs RKSV Margriet from Oss, joined PSV in 1999. He made two first team appearances in pre-season friendlies against Wilhelmina '08 and UNA, and started on the bench when PSV took on FC Utrecht on 2 March. Van Eijden made his UEFA Champions League debut against Liverpool last season, when he came on as a substitute during the quarter final second leg. The central defender captains the Young PSV side.
