PSV MEDIA â€' Jérémie Bréchet signed a three-year deal with PSV on Monday afternoon. The 28-year-old defender joins PSV from Sochaux. He had spells with Real Sociedad, Internazionale and Olympique Lyon before. Bréchet successfully completed a medical examination earlier on the day.
Three caps
Born in Lyon on 14 August 1979, Bréchet played five seasons for Olympique Lyon. He won the French championship twice with his home town club, before he made moves to Inter and Real Sociedad. He spent the past two seasons in his native country again, with Sochaux where he captained the side that won the French Cup. Bréchet is a versatile, left footed player who can play many different positions: in midfield, at left back or in the heart of defence as well. He has won three cups for his country so far.
First Frenchman with PSV
Bréchet was at the Philips Stadium on Monday afternoon to put pen to paper on a three year deal with PSV. He is the first Frenchman to play in PSV colours ever. 'PSV is a great club who has gained a formidable reputation around Europe. I am keen to come and play here', said Bréchet after all formalities had been finalised. 'The club has made a good first impression upon me. They have a wonderful stadium, play at a high level and I am looking forward to playing here next season.'
