PSV Media - Ismail Aissati will ply his trade in Amsterdam with Ajax the next four seasons. Ajax already agreed a fee with PSV for the transfer last Friday. The 19-year-old midfielder passed a medical on the same day and completed a four-year deal when he put pen to paper on his contract on Monday morning.
Debut at the age of 17
Ismail Aissati, born in Utrecht on 16 August 1988, started playing football at DSO in Utrecht before he made a move to USV Elinkwijk. Taken on by the PSV Academy at the age of twelve, Ismail Aissati made his debut for the first team five years later, on 28 August 2005, against Roda JC, with the Johan Cruyff Shield at stake. PSV beat Roda JC 3-0 in that season's curtain opener. In his four seasons with PSV, Aissati made three goals in 44 appearances. In 2006/2007 the midfielder spent six months on loan at FC Twente, where he scored one goal in 14 league appearances. Ismail Aissati follows in the footsteps of Gert Bals, Peter Hoekstra and Kenneth Perez who joined Ajax from PSV, which makes him the fourth player to move from Eindhoven to Amsterdam.
Aissati wanted to leave PSV
Ismail Aissati had already intimated at the start of the pre-season campaign that he wanted to leave PSV for Ajax. PSV head coach Huub Stevens spoke twice with the young midfielder and told him that he did not want him to go. The PSV board had offered Ismail Aissati a four-year deal on improved terms that he accepted, but in the end the player was keen to leave Eindhoven for Amsterdam after all.
