PSV will continue their pre-season preparations with a friendly at SV Vaassen at Sports Park De Kouwenaar on Saturday night, kick-off 6pm. Officials and fans of the amateur club, founded in 1920, are looking forward to extending a hearty welcome to PSV after they already entertained Ajax and Feyenoord the past seven years.
First division
SV Vaassen made their debut in the first division of their league last season and finished in a comfortable mid-table position, which chairman Johan Vunderink hails as a great achievement. 'We played in the fifth division twelve seasons ago and we are obviously delighted to have earned a mid-table position in our league.' SV Vaasen's chairman has been making efforts to organise a friendly against PSV for some years. 'We have successfully persuaded Ajax and Feyenoord to come and play a friendly here and now we are proud we will entertain PSV. We have also played host in a friendly to FC Barcelona and the Dutch team with the likes of Willem van Hanegem, Johan Neeskens and Johan Cruijff.' Chairman Vunderink has no idea how many fans will turn up to see the game. 'We strongly depend on the weather. There are many camping sites in this area and visitors will make a late decision whether they will come and see the game.'
