PSV will round-off their pre-season campaign with a friendly against amateurs De Treffers in Groesbeek tonight, kick-off at 7pm. It will be PSV's final pre-season friendly, ahead of Saturday's match against Cup holders Feyenoord for the Johan Cruijff Schaal (the Dutch Super Cup).
Sunday amateurs
Sunday amateurs De Treffers, founded in 1919, have played in the highest amateur league in the Netherlands, since its introduction in 1974. They won seven titles and were last crowned champions in 2005. De Treffers won the national championship in 1991 and 1998. They crashed to a 6-0 defeat against PSV in a Cup tie during the 1987/88 season.
Final test
With a great number of players away on international duty, PSV head coach Huub Stevens will name an experimental squad for tonight's friendly in Groesbeek. Bakkal, Marcellis and Pieters, who represented PSV at the Olympic Games, will be rested for a few days before they join the squad for full training again. Tonight's friendly will be the final test for Huub Stevens' team, six weeks after they returned to pre-season training. They beat v.v. Gestel and SV Vaassen, but settled for five consecutive pre-season draws against VVV Venlo, Sporting, Newcastle, Everton and Mallorca, respectively.
