Stef Nijland, PSV's latest summer signing, joined his new team mates for the Tuesday morning training session at De Herdgang. The 20-year-old forward put pen to paper on a five-year deal in Eindhoven yesterday. PSV are preparing for Saturday's opening game of the season at FC Utrecht.
Shuttle run
A nearly complete squad were again put through their paces on Tuesday morning, as the players were made to do a shuttle run test. Stef Nijland was the centre of attention. After some thirty minutes, the 22-man squad went to another pitch to do crossing and finishing work, while the goalkeeping coaches Hans Segers and Anton Scheutjens took charge of the goalkeepers' training session. Jan Kromkamp, who is recovering from a knee injury, and 18-year-old Reimond Manco, who celebrated his eighteenth birthday last weekend, were noticeable absentees from the Tuesday morning training session. Manco featured in Young PSV's 3-0 defeat against N.E.C. last night. Goalkeeper Cássio Ramos, who was handed a start last night, did join the first-team squad for training.
Highlights
The lads concluded the Tuesday morning session with a practise game. Nordin Amrabat's goal, a lob over keeper Bas Roorda, was one of the highlights. Stef Nijland showed his technical skills at times and beat first-choice goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson during his first training session at De Herdgang.
