PSV coach Huub Stevens could not hide his delight after his side had recorded their second win in five days. He said at the post-match press conference: 'We were well-organised. I don't reveal a secret when I maintain that winning games gives you the belief to win.'
'We kept up the pressure'
'Of course we were lucky to take an early lead', explained Stevens at the conference. 'We kept up the pressure and should have scored a second goal in the first half. But Danny Koevermans made up for that with a peach of a goal. I am sure it deserves a 'Goal of the Month' nomination. We have bagged the three points and I hope all the lads have got through unscathed.'
Andries Jonker's analysis
His Willem II counterpart Andries Jonker started his analysis with an ironic statement. 'We are making progress in Eindhoven. We suffered 4-0 and 3-0 defeats in our previous outings at the Philips Stadium, but tonight we slipped to only a 2-0 defeat', said the Willem II coach. 'We lacked the courage necessary to play attacking football. We worked hard three times in a row here and we did not a get a result for the third time running. Our passing was sloppy, we didn't create anything going forward and we gave the ball away far too often. When we were only one goal down at half time, we still hoped to take something from the game. But it was all over when Koevermans struck a beauty of a goal. PSV thoroughly deserved their victory', ended Jonker.
