Olympique Marseille, who lost their first three Champions League Group D matches, play host to PSV on the fourth match day of the UEFA Champions League. The sky is overcast in Marseille with occasional rain. Kick-off of the vital game at the Stade Vélodrome is at 8.45pm.
Boudewijn Zenden
PSV know that a win over Olympique Marseille would boost their chances of reaching the next round. Huub Stevens' team collected their first three points of the Champions League campaign by a 2-0 victory over Olympique Marseille in Eindhoven, thanks to two Danny Koevermans headers. Olympique Marseille sit bottom of Group D without a single point. 'It's a key match', said Boudewijn Zenden ahead of tonight's game. 'It will be a now or never for us. We know we need a win to stay in contention for a place in the UEFA Cup competition. As for anything more than that, we'll have to wait and see', said the former PSV player. He refused to discuss the 'weak points' of his former club. 'Even if we had spotted any, I would obviously not reveal them. One thing is for sure, though: We will play as a team', concluded Zenden, who made his 75th appearance in a European competition in Eindhoven two weeks ago.
Referee Nicola Rizzoli
Neither Olympique Marseille nor PSV have suspension worries. Olympique striker Mamadou Niang remains doubtful with a groin injury, but is set to start. PSV coach Huub Stevens will have to drop one player from his provisional nineteen-man squad. The Italian referee Nicola Rizzoli will take charge of the game at Stade Vélodrome tonight. He has been selected as a referee in the UEFA Champions League for the second time after he had already taken charge of nine UEFA Cup matches. Rizzoli made his first and only refereeing appearance in UEFA EURO 2008â„¢ qualifying in the game between the Netherlands and Slovenia at the Philips Stadium in October 2007. Some four hundreds PSV fans have made the trip to Marseille to support their favourite team. The pitch has suffered from the heavy rainfall on Sunday and today's rainfall will have caused pitch conditions to deteriorate.
