Twelve PSV players have been given the call for international friendlies or World Cup qualifiers on Wednesday 19th November. Ibrahim Afellay, Balázs Dzsudzsák, Eric Addo, Jason Culina, Danko Lazovic, Timmy Simons, Carlos Salcido and Andreas Isaksson have been called up to the senior squads to represent their countries. Stijn Wuytens, Stef Nijland and Manco have received a call up to the national youth squads.
Friendlies
The Netherlands meet Sweden in an international friendly at the Amsterdam ArenA on Wednesday. PSV will have two representatives in that game with Ibrahim Afellay on the home team, facing keeper Andreas Isaksson on the opposing side. Dirk Marcellis was also named in coach Bert van Marwijk's squad, but was forced to pull out as he sustained a hamstring injury during PSV's 4-1 defeat against Ajax on Sunday. Balázs Dzsudzsák is in Belfast for Hungary's friendly against Northern Ireland. Eric Addo's Ghana will play a friendly against Tunisia. Danko Lazovic is in Belgrade for Serbia's friendly against neighbours Bulgaria. Closer to home, Timmy Simons captains the Red Devils who take on Luxembourg.
World Cup qualifying games
On World Cup duty is Jason Culina as he jets off to represent Australia in a qualifier against Bahrain on Wednesday. Carlos Salcido has been called up to the Mexico squad to face Honduras. Mexico need a point in Honduras on November 19 to make sure of reaching the final round of the CONCACAF region's qualifying competition, which will be played next year. Mexico lead the group with 10 points, one ahead of Honduras. Wednesday also sees the under 21s in action. Stijn Wuytens (Belgium), Reimond Manco (Peru) and Stef Nijland (Netherlands) have been called up to represent their countries at the highest level. Stef Nijland has been called up into the Netherlands B squad for the international friendly against Young Sweden in Waalwijk, with a 6pm kick-off, as cover for Koevermans, who has withdrawn from the squad. Defender Erik Pieters will be in Hoenderlo until Wednesday to train with a Dutch youth team. So all in all, PSV coach Huub Stevens will be without twelve players as he starts preparations for Saturday's Eredivisie home game against Heracles Almelo.
