PSV coach Huub Stevens was content with his side's 4-0 lead at half time which allowed him to rest some players. But he also criticised his team. 'I was delighted with the half time score, but I must admit we didn't start bright enough', said Stevens at the press conference.
'Should have scored more goals'
'We didn't start bright enough, but once we had taken the lead, we had some well-worked passing moves. When we had taken a four goal cushion going into the break, I felt I could rest some players, as we face a hectic fixture list. We played at a high tempo and forced Heracles to make defensive slips. I wish we would have scored one or two more goals in the second half, but we unfortunately did not manage to do so.'
Gert Heerkes' analysis
'We'd better turn the page, forget tonight's game and start preparing for the next fixture', said the Heracles coach at the post-match press conference. 'We were confident, ahead of tonight's game, as we trained well and put in commanding first-half displays against FC Utrecht and NAC Breda. But our confidence disappeared like snow in summer after we had made two mistakes. PSV smelt blood and we were given a severe test in the first period. After the break we played more compactly in a bid not to concede any more goals. We will now turn our attention to the next game.'
