PSV coach Huub Stevens hailed PSV's spirited performance after their 1-0 victory at home against Feyenoord. 'We showed great fighting spirit. We may not have put in a sparkling display, but we forced Feyenoord to defend deeply. We created chances ourselves and conceded hardly anything at the back. So I think we deserved the win and were worthy winners in the end', concluded Stevens at the post-match press conference in the Philips Stadium.
Happy with the result
Stevens thought his team should have scored a few more goals, but was happy with the result. 'A 1-0 victory is enough to yield three points. We have shown great fighting spirit as we were able to train the whole week and prepare thoroughly for today's game.' His Feyenoord colleague Gertjan Verbeek had seen 'a thrilling game that was devoid of quality'. 'We were well-organised and conceded few chances. We were confident at times but it was not enough to secure victory. The game could have gone either way and a 0-0 or 1-1 draw would have been a better reflection of our performance. We have worked hard to get a result, but it was not to be. We will carry on and just grin and bear it, although a number of players will be suspended for the next game.
