PSV coach Huub Stevens previewed Sunday's clash with Roda JC at his weekly press briefing on Friday afternoon. With seventeen matches remaining, PSV, who are trailing leaders AZ by eleven points, have everything to play for. 'We must win the first of the remaining seventeen matches.'
'Found a solution'
PSV slipped to a 2-3 defeat against Roda JC in this season's reverse encounter on 25 October. 'We'll approach Roda JC differently this time. When we met them at home, they found plenty of space, but we think we have found the solution', explained Stevens at the press briefing. PSV's head coach remained tight-lipped on who would play on Sunday. 'We will train on Saturday and our starting eleven will be announced before Sunday's kick-off.'
Ola Toivonen
Stevens did not know whether he would call up new signing Ola Toivonen to the squad. 'He is not fit enough to play the full 90 minutes. He hasn't been subjected to a fitness test and I haven't spoken with him yet. I'll have a chat with him tomorrow.' The Swede is not eligible to play, while the club is waiting for a fax confirmation from the KNVB headquarters. 'If he is eligible to play, he will travel with us to Kerkrade. He will then have a chance to see how we prepare a game. It may be different from what is being done at Malmö.' PSV's head coach did not know either if he would call up Carlos Salcido for Sunday's game. 'Carlos has been training with the squad only one time this week, but if Mike Zonneveld joins Panathinaikos on loan, we may include Carlos in the squad.'
Feeling of togetherness
Huub Stevens took charge of a four-day training camp in La Manga last week. He told the gathered media representatives that he was satisfied with the way he had been able to prepare his team for the second half of the season. 'Our stay on the Spanish coast has met expectations. We have taken steps forward in all fields- physically, technically, tactically and mentally. Team spirit is all-important and the feeling of togetherness has been strengthened', concluded Stevens. PSV will train on Saturday at 10am to complete preparations for Sunday's game at the Parkstad Limburg Stadium. Kick-off is at 12:30.
