PSV coach Huub Stevens said at the post-match press conference that the players had given their all to claim victory. 'They fought themselves back into the game and created plenty of chances to snatch victory after all. It's too bad we dropped points again.'
'Too bad we dropped more points'
'I think we started brightly and deservedly took the lead', said Stevens. 'But then we omitted to kill the game as we played at a low tempo and injury-ravaged NAC's equaliser came out of the blue. The players felt down-hearted at half-time. I hoped the half-time pep talk would revive PSV. We had a number of golden opportunities to wrap up the game after the break, but wasted them and Kolkka even put his team ahead. PSV fought themselves back into the game and created plenty of chances to snatch victory after all. It's too bad we dropped points again', concluded Stevens, who added that Swedish striker Ola Toivonen had met expectations on his debut.
Maaskant delighted with his team's fighting spirit
NAC coach Robert Maaskant lavished praise on his team, who had to dig deep in their KNVB Cup win on Wednesday. 'PSV started most attacks, as we played a compact defence. Yet we sloppily conceded the opening goal after fifteen minutes. We were forced to take off Penders and Gilissen in the first half after they had sustained injuries. Fortunately we scored a morale-boosting equaliser on the stroke of half time. Kolkka even gave us the lead with a superb strike and we were anxious to bravely hold on in the closing stages. PSV leveled things, though, and I am delighted with the fighting spirit shown by my team and the point that we have claimed here in Eindhoven'.
