Holding midfielder Haibin Zhou has been unveiled at an official press conference at the Philips Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. PSV icon Willy van der Kuylen handed the Chinese signing his first shirt. Zhou will wear the number 19 shirt at PSV.
'A huge challenge'
Haibin Zhou signed a one-year deal with PSV with an option to extend for a further two seasons. PSV saw him in action at an international youth tournament in Toulon in 2005 and has been interested in signing him ever since. PSV icon Willy van der Kuylen handed Zhou his first shirt. The Chinese signing will wear the number 19 shirt at PSV. According to the player himself, PSV is known in China as a very big club. 'PSV got in touch with me six months ago and I was immediately very keen to make a move to Eindhoven. Football and life in general over here are different, so I consider it a huge challenge to settle in nicely. Sun Xiang has given me some pieces of advice. He told me I can make it if I give my all. I think my best position is holding midfielder. My first impressions of the club and the town are very positive', said Zhou, through his agent Romain Woo, who also acted as an interpreter. 'I first want to learn how to speak English before I take Dutch classes.' Zhou is adamant PSV should not worry about his physical fitness. 'I haven't trained for two weeks and need some time to get back to my best form. But I'm sure I will be fully-fit shortly.' Zhou is the second Chinese player to ply his trade with PSV, after Sun Xiang had a stint in Eindhoven in 2007.
