Young sc Heerenveen met their PSV counterparts at the Abe Lenstra Stadium on Monday night in front of an 18000 strong crowd. As many as eight goals were scored, most of them in the space of a few minutes. The Chinese Haibin Zhou made his debut for Young PSV.
Ter Horst double
Young PSV coach Anton Janssen included Jan Kromkamp, Stef Nijland and Mike Zonneveld in his starting line-up, while sc Heerenveen fielded a team with the first-team squad members Daryl Janmaat, Paulo Henrique, Bonaventure Kalou, Tarik Elyounoussi, Calvin Jong-A-Pin, Milan Kopic and Hans Vonk. The home side took a 4-0 lead, scoring goals on the stroke of half time and in the initial stages of the second half. PSV fought themselves back into the game and five minutes later PSV had reduced the deficit, following an Olivier ter Horst double and a Stef Nijland goal. Nijland scored his goal from the rebound when keeper Vonk failed to hold on to a powerful long-range effort by Zhou. PSV then went in search of an equaliser. Nijland brought out a laborious save from Vonk and Zhou saw an effort cleared off the line by defender Jong A-Pin. Tarik Elyounoussi wrapped up the points for his team in injury time. The Norwegian striker was fouled in the box by Kromkamp. The PSV defender received his second booking and was consequently given his marching orders. Elyounoussi himself stepped up to coolly convert the resulting spot kick. Final score: 5-3.
