PSV coach Dwight Lodeweges will be forced to make at least one change to his starting line-up, when PSV play host to Vitesse. Edison Méndez suffers an Achilles tendon injury and is ruled out of Saturday's Eredivisie tie. At his weekly press briefing, Lodeweges told media representatives that Vitesse are a tough side to beat.
Four players not available
Stef Nijland, Mike Zonneveld and Funso Ojo will not be available for tomorrow either, while Nordin Amrabat returns from suspension. Lodeweges confirmed at his weekly press briefing that Bakkal will deputise for the injured Méndez. 'Bakkal was brought on as a substitute in the second half of the match against Feyenoord and put in a fine display.' Andreas Isaksson received treatment for his bleeding nose after being accidentally struck in the face at training on Friday but the Swedish goalkeeper is set to start tomorrow night. The Chinese Haibin Zhou has again been included in the match squad, but is not likely to make his debut in PSV colours yet. Lodeweges will play Ola Toivonen as striker up front. 'He is a clinical finisher and I know he will show his goalscoring prowess.'
'Take each game as it comes'
Coach Lodeweges claimed that PSV have not readjusted their goals for the season, following a poor run in the league. 'We are still anxious to qualify for European football. With seven games remaining, we take each game as it comes, starting with the game against Vitesse at the Philips Stadium. Vitesse are not having the best of seasons, but yet they have also produced some convincing performances. They usually opt for a 4-4-2 formation, with the midfield forming a diamond shape. But we play at home and will stick to our own system and our style of play. Vitesse like to attack and are a tough side to beat. We are well-prepared, though, and realise this is another crucial game for PSV.'
