PSV coach Dwight Lodeweges claimed his side had got what they deserved after goals from Afellay and Toivonen earned PSV a comfortable 2-0 win over Vitesse at the Philips Stadium on Saturday night. 'We are delighted with a good win and I am glad we have returned to winning ways.'
Result was the all important thing
'We improved after a hesitant start. We were in control and created eight chances, while we conceded nothing at the back', said Lodeweges at the post-match press conference. 'When we did not score a second goal, we got slightly worried and played it safe. We realised the crowd did not like the slow-tempo game, but the result was the all important thing tonight. Actually I don't think it was a poor game. I am delighted with a good win. We have returned to winning ways and have reduced the gap with Heerenveen', said Lodeweges.
Theo Bos disappointed
'We had hoped to play a compact defence and catch PSV on the break. We had our moments in the first half, but when we had possession of the ball, we didn't create anything. PSV were not in great form and yet we suffered a 2-0 defeat, which is disappointing', concluded Vitesse coach Bos.
