Midfielder Jasper Waalkens will leave PSV at the end of the season to join Eredivisie outfit Willem II. Waalkens, who was named 'Young Player of the year' last season, will sign a three-year contract in Tilburg. 'I feel great getting this opportunity', said Waalkens, who has been playing for PSV since 2002.
'Look forward to the new challenge'
The 20-year-old midfielder did not accept PSV's offer for a contract extension but preferred to complete a deal with Willem II. 'PSV told me I could sign a contract extension and spend next season on loan, but Willem II offered me a three-year deal. I feel great getting this opportunity after spending sevens years with PSV and I look forward to the new challenge at an Eredivisie club. I don't know if I would ever develop into a first-team regular with PSV', explained Young PSV player Waalkens, who regularly trains with the first senior squad. Willem II's Technical Director Andries Jonker announces on the official club website that he is delighted that Waalkens, 'a midfielder with great technical skills' has opted to sign Willem II. Waalkens, born on 13 February 1989, will sign a two-year deal with an option for a further season. He has passed a medical.
