Guus Hiddink's and Alex's Chelsea have booked a place in the Champions League semi-finals, following a 4-4 draw against Liverpool in one of the most dramatic and entertaining games in the history of the Champions League. Former PSV defender Alex played a major role, blasting home a blistering, swerving free-kick.
Breathtaking entertainment
Chelsea reached the semi-finals with a 4-4 draw against Liverpool in Tuesday's quarter-final second leg for a 7-5 aggregate victory after 90 minutes of breathtaking entertainment at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea led 3-1 after the first leg at Anfield, but the Reds brought the tie to life with two first-half goals. Chelsea struck back after the break. Didier Drogba reduced the deficit. Alex levelled the score with a thunderbolt free-kick and Frank Lampard put Liverpool ahead. Lucas and Dirk Kuyt gave Liverpool hope but Lampard scored the final goal of a goal-crazy night to send Chelsea through to the semi-finals where they face FC Barcelona, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Mark van Bommel's Bayern Munich.
