Red Bull Salzburg announce on the club's website that 55-year-old Dutchman Huub Stevens will be in charge as head coach from the beginning of next season. Huub Stevens, who parted company with PSV in January, has signed a two-year contract with the Austrian league leaders to replace his countryman Co Adriaanse.
When asked for a first reaction, Stevens replied: 'I've followed Red Bull Salzburg for some time and know the club's demands and ambitions. The facilities in Salzburg, the team's development and their ambitious plans made it easy for me in the end to opt for the Red Bulls.' Red Bull Salzburg, who are top of the Austrian league table, announced last week that they would not renew their contract with Co Adriaanse, paving the way for Huub Stevens. He began his coaching career in 1993 with Roda JC and was head coach at Schalke 04, Hertha BSC, 1. FC Köln, Roda JC again and Hamburger SV, before he joined PSV in 2008. Stevens won the UEFA Cup twice: as a PSV player in 1978 and as Schalke 04 coach in 1997.
