PSV will play nine pre-season friendlies in the build up to the 2009/10 Eredivisie campaign, including a testimonial for Phillip Cocu. Fred Rutten's team will kick off their summer friendlies with matches against amateur teams in the county of Brabant before crossing the border to meet opponents from Denmark, Germany and Belgium.
Four amateur clubs and RKC Waalwijk
PSV's senior squad will return to pre-season training at De Herdgang training facilities on Monday 22 June. The first pre-season friendly is five days later, on Saturday 27 June, against the amateurs of RKSV Driel and will be followed by away games against the amateurs of RKSV Mierlo, VV De Valk and UDI'19/Beter Bed. PSV will make a trip to Waalwijk on Tuesday 7 July to face First Division side RKC.
Bröndby, Besiktas, KRC Genk
PSV will cross the border into Denmark to take on Bröndby on Saturday 11 July. Fred Rutten's squad will then have a summer training camp in Germany where they play no matches. On their way home, they will meet the Turkish side Besiktas in Zutphen on Saturday 18 July. A further game at KRC Genk in Belgium could also be added to this schedule, three days later, on Tuesday 21 July, but that fixture is provisional and subject to alteration.
European campaign starts on 30 July
The pre-season campaign for PSV ends with a testimonial game against Team Cocu. It will be the only pre-season friendly that is scheduled to take place in Philips Stadium. PSV start their UEFA Europa League campaign on Thursday 30 July when they play the first leg of the third qualifying round. The return leg will be played on 8 August, one week after the start of the 2009/10 Eredivisie season.
