Kees Rijvers, the legendary former PSV coach, who is now 78 years of age, was a welcome guest at De Herdgang training ground this morning and afternoon. He watched the training sessions and caught up on news with, among other people, Willy van der Kuylen and Guus Hiddink.Rijvers was coach of PSV during two spells. He was head coach from1972 until 1980 and he was the acting PSV manager for two months in 1994. He won the Dutch title in1975, 1976, 1978 and the Dutch Cup in 1974 en 1976. Winning the UEFA Cup in 1978 was undoubtedly the highlight of his career as a professional football coach.So this afternoon he caught up on news with Willy van der Kuylen, one of his most important players at the time. Scout Klaas van Baalen and assistant coach Fred Rutten also joined the discussions in the study of Guus Hiddink. Rijvers won 33 caps for his country, in which he scored ten goals. He was in charge as coach of the Dutch national football team at 21 international games, from 1981-1984.
