Fred Rutten stated after the 2-3 victory over Sparta, that PSV had shown resilience and had responded well to the circumstances in the game. PSV was trailing against Sparta for the first time since the game against NAC Breda. At the press conference, Rutten analysed the game: "We didn't do ourselves a lot of favours today."
