PSV finished a fine week in style: they have maintained their excellent away record by pulling off a hard fought 0-3 win over sc Heerenveen. Park, who scored a first half goal and Farfán, who netted a second half brace, had their names on the score sheet, but man-of-the match was Gomes. The Brazilian PSV goalkeeper stretched full length to save a spot kick by Huntelaar, when the score was 0-1.PSV played an excellent game and were rewarded with a good result; the gap with PSV and the runners-up, who have also claimed wins, in the Dutch league has remained the same. PSV realized that their nearest rivals AZ, Ajax and Feyenoord had already enjoyed victories, when they kicked off the game against sc Heerenveen in the Abe Lenstra Stadium at the unusual time of half past four. Heerenveen were equal to the Eindhoven team for long spells in the first forty-five minutes, but PSV were well-organized and they kept cool, calm and collected in the north of the Netherlands. The game was characteristic for the way PSV have been playing this season: they earned a win and dominated proceedings all the time.Ji-Sung Park broke the deadlock five minutes from half time. Mark van Bommel set up Jefferson Farfán, who managed to produce a cross from an acute angle into the box defended by sc Heerenveen. Park slid the ball home from close range. PSV were the better side in the initial quarter of an hour; the two teams then were on equal terms for the remaining part of the first half. PSV once again were enjoying the better position in the closing stages, which was crowned by the opening goal. The Frisians, who must have felt the effects of a tough European tie on Thursday night, boasted of a header by former PSV striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar that hit the bar. Quite a few incidents influenced the game in the second half. The most crucial took place on the hour mark, when referee Temmink booked Kasper Bøgelund for pushing down Huntelaar and subsequently awarded sc Heerenveen a penalty. It caused quite a stir, because Huntelaar allegedly had not put the ball in the proper place when he was on his way to convert the spot kick. André Ooijer showed his dissent and the defender also had his name in the referee’s notebook. It means that the defender will serve a one-match ban. So Ooijer will not be available next week, when PSV make a trip to FC Groningen. Gomes kept his concentration and superbly saved the penalty kick.Guus Hiddink brought on DaMarcus Beasley for Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink fifteen minutes from final time. The American international was played left winger and the Peruvian striker played in the position of striker up front. Farfán made his presence felt on 82 minutes, when he magnificently slotted home a volley; 0-2. It was his sixth goal of the season and he took his tally to seven in stoppage time, thus making sure of a 0-3 victory.PSV have a hectic week ahead: they will entertain TOP Oss on Thursday night in an Amstel Cup tie and they will travel to FC Groningen next week Sunday.
