PSV had to settle for a goaless draw in Kerkrade against Roda JC, but apart from one point, the Eindhoven side also collected a few club records. Before the game was kicked off an impressive one-minute silence was observed in fond memory of PSV icon Toon Brusselers, who died last Friday.Nothing much but prestige was at stake and Roda JC seemed to consider that of more importance than PSV in the initial stages. Only 55 seconds were on the clock when Sonko rattled the bar and five minutes later Vicelick brought out a fine save from PSV stopper Gomes. The pace of the game was low, really low. PSV earned their first chance from a corner. Addo, who filled in for Alex in the heart of defence, headed just wide of the goal.Park and Lee chancesOn fifteen minutes PSV took the initiative and Park got a good opportunity. The South Korean cleverly created some space but saw his effort saved by Roda goalie Kujovic. Not much later his country fellow Lee fired over the goal. Mark van Bommel was serving a one-match suspension and he saw that, of all players Vennegoor of Hesselink blasted a free kick straight at Kujovic, following a foul on Afellay. And Park took a free kick that went just wide of the post. Five minutes before the official time of the first period had elapsed, referee Wgereef blwe his whistle and suddenly it was half time. Mark Luijpers farewellFive minutes into the second half Mark Luijpers took his leave as a Roda JC player. He has been in the service of the Dutch top flight club for as many as seventeen seasons, one of which on loan with MVV. The 34-year-old defender has been offered an opportunity to join the Roda JC medical staff, but he is also linked with a Swiss club. Luijpers, who was named Footballer of the Year in 1989, left the pitch on the shoulders of his team mate Filipovic.Final game for VogelThe pace of the game of the second period was even lower than in the first half and chances were far and few. Goalkeeper Kujovic had apiece of good luck, when he fumbled at a Lee effort that, eventually, went just wide of the post. Vogel was taken off on 77 minutes and Bogelund left the bench to take his place. The Swiss international will announce at the end of next week where he will play next season.RecordsIn spite of the disappoiting result in Kerkrade, PSV have set some new records. They kept 23 clean sheets this season, thus equalling a record set up by FC Twente in the 1971-1972 campaignPSV also equalled the record of the number of unbeaten away games. PSV maintained an unbeaten run on their travels for seventeen games and when we add the four games of the previous season in which the Eindhoven side remained unbeaten, is means a record of 21 games.PSV also equaled an own club record of points collected in one season. They earned 87 points, which is the same tally as in the 1985-1986 season. Finally PSV also set up a new club record: their keepers Gomes and Edwin Zoetebier had to concede only 17 goals. The club record was 20.
