The ankle injury that Ibrahim Afellay has picked up seems to be less serious than was originally feared. The young PSV midfielder was examined in hospital last week to find out the exact nature of the injury he sustained during the World Cup U20 group game against Benin. Two to three weeksA scan revealed that Afellay has ruptured an ankle ligament. Apart from a bruise, no more defects were found. The midfielder is expected to return from injury to the training pitch in two to three weeks.UnfortunateAfellay put up some fine World Cup performances with the Dutch squad U20, until he fell awkwardly during the final group game. Afellay was forced to leave the tournament, which was a major blow for the youngster who was fielded as a genuine number 10 playmaker.
