Hiddink receives honorary doctorate degree (PSV.nl)

As soon as the Friday morning training session was over, Guus Hiddink went straight to the Korea University campus, where he received an honorary doctorate degree, by way of thanks for his merits in the field of sport, friendship and motivation. Sport and friendshipKorea University, a renowned institute, is celebrating its centenarian anniversary. PSV played a friendly against a University All Star team last Wednesday to honour the occasion. Guus Hiddink was received this afternoon by the President of the university and a number of professors and officials. He is the second person to have received this honorary doctorate degree. According to the Korea University, he has brought together young people and inspired them by his achievements in Korean football. He was given praise by the university for making young people live in a more healthy way and for emphasizing the importance of sport and friendship. Bum-Keun ChaThe Korean football legend Bum-Keun Cha was also handed an honorary doctorate degree. Cha, who coached the Korea University All Stars team last Wednesday, was honoured for his many merits and the good examples he has set as an international athlete. Hiddink and Cha were given the grand tour, following a short ceremony and a brief introduction. Representatives at the Korea University, situated in Seoul, were delighted to offer them honorary doctorate degrees. "I have often been asked to come back and attend special events. But I am very critical and only attend special ceremonies.
