At the post-match press conference PSV manager Guus Hiddink was pleased with the mental resilience that his team had shown when they had to come from a goal down. He praised his side for an impressive performance against Vitesse.RiskVitesse coach Edward Sturing announced that his team had to cope with problems in midfield in particular. "We could not come to terms and were constantly looking for solutions. We could not press forward. When we decided to play man-to-man in defence in the latter stages of the second period, we did better. We realized we were taking risks and a 3-1 lead for PSV would have been quite feasible. But we could have salvaged a draw, if Benson had capitalized on the opportunity he got. It would not have been justified, but I wouldn’t have minded."ResilienceGuus Hiddink was delighted with the 'good win'. "It was important to bounce back after the disappointing start last weekend. We felt the pressure, especially as the home crowd obviously expected a good result. The response to the opening goal was great and my players deserve praise for their mental resilience. We were on top just before half time and should have wrapped up things after the break. We survived one scary moment, but the overall performance was just fine. I am delighted with the win, bearing in mind what happed last week."
