Mateja Kezman, who made a move from London to Madrid last summer, made his mark for his new club Atlético Madrid yesterday. The former PSV striker scored the winning goal for his side against FC Barcelona. Mateja KezmanThe former PSV player found the goal in the very first minute of the second half. Kezman was left completely unmarked when he scored from close range at the far post. His first goal in the Primera División immediately proved to be priceless. Samuel Eto'o had given FC Barcelona a first half lead, but Atlético were on level terms again on fifteen minutes. Martin Petro, a constant nuisance to the Barça defence, sprinted down the left flank and Fernando Torres headed home his perfect cross. Barça tried to salvage one point in the final stages and Mark van Bommel was inspirational as a substitute in the final fifteen minutes. But coach Frank Rijkaard saw that his side could not create an opening against a well-organized defence and Atletico Madrid, who were reduced to ten men on 67 minutes, inflicted the first defeat of the season on Barcelona.
