Mark van Bommel was on the cover of last week's issue of Don Balon, one of the most prominent football magazines in Spain. The former PSV midfielder remembers, among other things, that his parents bought him a new FC Barcelona shirt every year and that he has a deeply rooted love for the club. "I feel proud to make appearances in Camp Nou; my dreams have come true. I was linked with Real Madrid, but I did not even talk to them. FC Barcelona were the only club I was really interested in and I have been an avid of them for a great many years", said Van Bommel.DreamThere is one problem, however: he is not a regular player in the starting line-up. "It is my dream to play every Sunday, but its obviously the coach who takes the decisions. I know I have to give my all to realize my ambitions", he explained. The issue of his being not called up for the Dutch squad was also raised, but Van Bommel was not very explicit. He said he would keep on working hard and he hoped he would be given another opportunity. The interviewer, who praised Van Bommel for his fair command of the Spanish language, also asked for his Limburg background, his spell with PSV, and his first few weeks at Barcelona and life in Spain in general.
