PSV had a great weekend. They themselves clinched a 3-0 win over Sparta, whereas all their rivals dropped points last weekend. RKC Waalwijk had to settle for a draw against RBC Roosendaal on Friday night; AZ were denied a win on Saturday night when Heracles keeper stunningly scored a late-gasp headed equalizer and Ajax and Feyenoord failed to collect wins on Sunday afternoon. Ajax slip to defeat in NijmegenAjax made a trip to N.E.C. in Nijmegen on Sunday afternoon. They could not create any dangerous moment for over eighty minutes. They worked hard, but once they got near the N.E.C. goal, their passes were frequently inaccurate. In fact they did not deliver their first shot on target before the second period was well on its way. NEC did not earn a host of chances, either, but they took the lead straight after the restart. Tininho found Andrzej Niedzielan, who was completely unmarked. The Polish striker then set up Romano Denneboom, who comfortably prodded the ball home. Ajax were unable to cancel out the deficit and have now lost eighteen points from their eleven league games. The Amsterdam outfit did not find the net for the third time in a row during a domestic league game. Feyenoord and Vitesse settle for goalless drawFeyenoord and Vitesse put on an entertaining display in the Rotterdam Kuip. The hosts were the better side and could have dealt Vitesse a major blow on four minutes, but referee Roelof Luinge was not very cooperative. When Salomon Kalou rounded Wapenaar in the box, the Vitesse keeper floored him and a red card and a penalty would have been most obvious. Luinge, however, waved away all appeals and Harald Wapenaar gratefully became one of the stars of the afternoon by denying Feyenoord many times; he held the hosts to a 0-0 draw.
